Welcome to Love, Paw Pals! If you're here, then you've taken a step in the right direction toward helping our animal companions! The purpose of Love, Paw Pals is to bring awareness to you, the public, about the things you can do to help out your local animal rescues and shelters. Many of you may think you need to volunteer or donate money you can't really afford. But there is so much more you can do that requires little time and no extra cash:    1) Save items around the house! Most of you probably read the newspaper, and have old items like towels and blankets that need replacing. Instead of throwing these things away, you can instead donate them to your local shelter.    2) Adopt! If you're thinking about getting a pet, your first option should be to adopt from your local rescue or shelter instead of buying a pet from a pet store or backyard breeders. Many pet stores obtain their animals from mills, breeding grounds where the parents are kept caged in poor conditions and forced to breed over and over.    3) Spay/Neuter your pets! Some of you may feel bad about this prospect, but there are countless benefits to having your pets spayed or neutered (which you can read about here from our Links page). This is especially true if you have outdoor pets, as NOT spaying or neutering them contributes to overpopulation of unwanted animals.
